You know what I hate in the art journaling circles?
People always telling us that we are artists if we feel like that, and that nobody can tell us otherwise. You know...the cheerleader style: You can do it. Just start. You're an artist!
But then...I used to ask myself: Ok, but how can I FEEL like an artist when I know sh** about art? When I don't like what I create, when I feel like ripping those pages out, when I see my scribbles and think I'll never draw anything worth looking at. How??
And hese falsly comforting/cheerleading pieces of advice just made me feel worse.
Even more questions arose: Where to begin when you feel like everything but an artist? How should an artist feel? Do I need other people to tell me I'm an artist so I begin to feel that way?
And these created an endless loop and I was afraid to create because "feeling like an artist" wasn't in my stash of feelings.
Here's what I learned instead:
We need to learn. We need practice. We need time to experiment. We need to learn at least some techniques. And we need guidance when we're at the beginning.
Why?
Because this practice builds our self-confidence. It builds our well full of trial and error, mistakes that turn into lessons, we learn what works and what doesn't...and then, my friend, you can start feeling like an A in artist.
Just saying feel like an artist and do it isn't going to help.
Why do most beginners struggle to get ideas, or to translate ideas onto paper?
Because when you're beginning, there's a big gap between what you want to create and the skillset you need to create those ideas.
Maybe you have vast imagination, but you can't figure out how to accomplish that effect that you see people do in their art journals.
But what if this wasn't problem for you?
What if you could create beautiful pages in different styles, use different supplies for different effects with ease?
This practical side of art-making is also very important. Those who tell you to only follow your intuition may not know that your intuition sucks at this. And that's ok.
But intuition also comes from knowledge and the skillset. Once you learn how some art supplies behave, what you can do with them, how to choose colors, how to avoid muddy colors, etc....your confidence will grow and...well, love, your well of ideas will not be dry anymore.
That's why I created Art Journal Recipe

Still have questions?
There are millions of people making art just for fun and joy and nothing else. So, why on earth would you care if you're called an artist or not? If you enjoy your art journal, what does it matter if a teacher told you once you're not good at drawing?
They told you you weren't an artist? Well, ok, for them, you're not. But you are you, not your ignorant cousin or your next-door neighbor, or that shitty teacher, so you do you and let them go around saying what other people are and aren't.
You don't need a label like an "artist" to enjoy spending time with your journal, brushes, paints and all that wodnerful jazz.
One of the biggest modules in this course is focusing on starting and getting inspiration.
I teach you actionable ways you can use to start your pages with ideas, first steps, and more importantly, with more confidence.
Once you develop your own recipe, you'll be able to generate ideas easily and to express them in your journal.
You'll know how to use those ideas to create backgrounds and choose colors or images.
And finally, you'll know how to finish your pages, to add that extra spark and to make everything visually appealing.
Yes, YouTube and the Internet are packed with different art journal tutorials. These tutorials are great, but usually fast-paced and show you only one aspect or one step of creating.
This course guides you in a step-by-step process, that will help you gain more skills, knowledge and inspiration in a more methodical way.
I’ve been teaching for more than 13 years, and what I’ve learned is that all beginners need a simple approach to learning, with a step by step guidance, in order to master something. YouTube videos are often twice the speed, they offer quick ways to learn a new thing or a trick.
Art Journal Recipe is the full journey in one place, so you could create your own unique recipe for starting and building your pages, a proven system that works and will help you get rid of endless hours of YouTube tutorials that give you only a piece of this process.
Also, unlike YouTube and the similar places, in this course, you’ll get my support. I’ll hold your hand all the way and invest myself in your success and progress.
You don't need much time. Sometimes all you need is half an hour to make something and feel better after it. As simple as that. Nobody says you have to make art every day. It doesn't matter. When you have the time, do it.
And the pressure that you must make art often is ridiculous. It's not your job, it's your self-care and a hobby.
If you really can't find time but you want to, look at other things you can sacrifice for this art time. I'm sure you can find a thing or two like watching TV, or vacuuming today. Yes, you can skip vacuuming and make a page in your journal. Why the hell not?! It's just for today, right?
If you’re a beginner, or you've done this for some time but still don’t know where or how to start, this is the right course for you.
Art Journal Recipe is for you if:
If you’ve already mastered some art skills and have no problem in overcoming the blank page, choosing colors, getting inspiration, if you confidently build your page without any fear or blocks, then this course might feel basic to you.
Art Journal Recipe is an online course for art journaling beginners designed to help you get over the blank page and have all the tools you need to build your pages from start to finish.
The course has 6 main modules and 4 bonuses. Each lesson is a step you need to take in order to create a unique recipe for building your art journal pages. You’ll get all the tools to implement the lessons via videos, instructions, photos, and printables.
You’ll learn how to generate ideas for your pages and how to actually express those ideas through art.
I’ll teach you how to take the very first step, which is frightening to most of us, how to create different backgrounds, how to add layers and elements, how to make your page visually appealing. You’ll learn simple techniques that are doable in limited time.
Each lesson is short and super helpful, and I promise you, you won’t get overwhelmed, but on the contrary, you’ll have small wins with every lesson that you can continue implementing in your art journals.
The course costs $67. It's a one-time payment option.
You can start the course the minute you enroll it.
After that, you have access to the course, for life.
Since this is a course for beginners, you won’t need many art supplies to finish the course. We’ll mainly be using magazine images, acrylic paint, watercolor, brushes, stamps, ink, stencils, and pens.
In the first module of the course, I’ll show you a simple tutorial on how to make your own art journal, so you’d need some sheets of thicker paper (watercolor paper, mixed media paper, scrapbook paper or just ordinary cardstock) and some twine.
If you already have an art journal that you want to use, you don’t need to make this one.
This is an online course and once you purchase, you’ll get a confirmation email with all the info on how to access it. You’ll need to create a user name and a password and then you’ll have full access to the course.
To be able to follow the lessons, you need a good internet connection. I also suggest going through the course on your computer rather than on a mobile phone, since the mobile screens are tiny.
Note: this is not a physical product and nothing will be delivered to your home address. This is a completely digital, online course that you can access in the membership area of the course.
If that happens, I offer a 7-day guarantee. So, if you start the course and decide it isn’t for you, you can ask for a refund.
You’ll have a life-long access to the Art Journal Recipe. This means that, as long as my business and the course are alive, you’ll have access to it, even all the updates I may add in the future.
If at some point, this course will no longer be active, I’ll let you know in advance, so you can download all the resources.
The course is designed so you can work at your own pace. You have life-time access to it and you can work on it as much or as little as you want to.
You can always send me an email at hello@artfulhaven.com and I’ll answer your questions as soon as possible.
